RSS feeds go mainstream
For the last few months I have been boring everybody with the importance of the RSS feeds.
Let’s start by explaining what it is. It is a simple way in which you can decide to receive news articles from your favourite sources, direct to your computer instead of having to visit their websites. So if you rely on the BBC for news you can sign up for their RSS feed and get the information as soon as it is published – likewise for the Guardian, the FT or any other provider who offers this solution.
So this is the future. When you are looking for a job you will sign up for a Job feed. When you are trying to buy a house you will sign up for a property feed, when you are looking for technology you will sign up to the tech feeds; and when you want to keep in touch with your friends you will sign up to their blog feeds.
The missing bit of the jigsaw has (until recently) been the difficulty of signing up to the feeds. Either you have to download and install a piece of specialist software such as the Sharp Reader, or you had to set up a specialist web page which you could configure with your preferences.
Today I have seen it confirmed that the next version of Internet Explorer will include an RSS feed reader. This only brings it up to date with the feature already included in the Firefox browser, but it ensures that the process will go mainstream by the end of this year.
The time to add RSS feeds to your website may well be now!

Trading with the EU is more difficult now that we are no longer members of the EU.
Some of the things that you might need to take into account
It is quite common now to have separate domain names for each country or for separate white label sites; but it can lead to problems with running security log-in systems that enable your clients or admin managers, to run a single log in across all the domains. That is when you need Multidomain login which enables the ‘user state’ to be carried across transparently between them.
