Mapping Property Prices with Power BI

We've created this PowerBI dashboard using publicly available data, uploaded to our PowerBI account and shared publically. This demonstration is pulling live data from our SQL Server database via a data gateway which is hosted on our servers.

Using TopoJSON files to create a shape map of the UK, we are able to return properties based on postcode area. The coordinates of each property relates to a shape meaning that we can make use of SQL Server's "geography" data type to quickly search the database. The geography data type returns results far faster than querying via longitude and latitude and it also allows for polygons with many geographical points. 

Using Microsoft Power BI, TopoJSON files, SQL Server, Direct Query vs Import, Land Registry, Ordnance Survey, Preview Features - Shape Map Visual, Slicers, Forecasting, Top N.
