Mining the depths of Mongolia
As a company supplying software that tracks production and reports on mining, TheDevTeam likes to dig deep and look beyond borders at interesting markets for potential growth.
Consequently, TheDevTeam is active in Mongolia, seeking opportunities to save clients time and effort while providing accurate, consistent and highly useful reporting via our Eclipse Miningware.
This software can be tailored to individual mines, drive improvements in production and cost reduction, and help shape better strategic decision-making. While many operations around the world already rely on miningware to operate efficiently, those in Mongolia are at the beginning of that journey. Despite the sector's importance to the country's economy, most mines do not have digital infrastructure. View our photo album of the trip.
Coal, copper, gold and iron ore represent the lion's share of mining operations in Mongolia, both by international conglomerates as well as small local companies. And almost all are surface mines. It's a challenging environment where equipment and people work 24/7, 365 days a year in temperatures ranging from -40?C in the depths of winter to summer days of 40?C or more.
TheDevTeam believes Mongolia's mines can look forward to integrated digital infrastructure they can depend upon for the future of their operations. With this in mind, TheDevTeam presented at Mongolia Mining 2019 in the nation's capital, Ulaanbaatar, and was the only software company to exhibit out of all 130 stands and exhibition spaces.
Our CEO, Stephen Milton, visited regional mines in Mongolia and was on-site for the exhibition.
"It was busy, vibrant and exciting, but it was really strange to be the only software stand at a mining expo like this," he said. "Anywhere else in the world, 10%-30% of stands would be IT companies."
Stephen has established business contacts in Mongolia and describes Mongolia as "beautiful, exciting and impressive".
